Borat makes us laugh at political correctness. Borat the movie makes us take ourselves lightly. Borat is on a mission to learn about the American culture an take it back to his native Kazakhstan. So he has to experience the American culture in various venues. The movie makes us laugh at people's racism, biases and their ways of dealing with what makes them uncomfortable. While watching this movie, you will cover your ears and eyes not only because of its strong, crude, pervasive language and graphics but also because of its real-to-life scenes. From the moment, Borat starts kissing the males he encountered on his journey instead of shaking hands with them, you will start shaking, squirming in your seat. Borat has this addictive quality to it just like any good comedy. Viewers will not want to miss much. They will not leave the theater despite the assault to their senses.

Borat is one of three characters played by British comedian Scha Baron Cohen who is of jewish origins. He is supposedly the Kazakh journalist who is visiting the US to report back to his country of origin. He makes everybody uncomfortable by asking absurd, offensive questions. During his journey, Borat lets loose a live chicken on a New York subway. He was carrying this bag which was flung open in traffic. He interviews astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Alan Keyes, wrestles naked through a hotel, brings a lady of the night to a supper club in the South, stops by a Pentecostal church and find Jesus. His goal is to find Pamela Anderson so he can interview her. This is a journalist with a long to-do-list. Despite its irreverence, Borat the Movie turns out to be very funny. The timing is perfect. There is a chance that this movie will continue to be the top-grossing movie way until after the holiday season.

Obviously Sacha Cohen and his co-stars stand to make some money. 20th Century Fox also will make beaucoup money. Who stands to lose? Apparently, Kazakhstan's president and administration think the movie is bad for its image. No wonder the nation opposes the movie. That nation has long protested the release of the movie by spending millions on pro-Kazakh propaganda. It has spent on full-page newspaper ads, TV ads running in places such as Los Angeles. It has even funded the production and release of a documentary. Indeed, comedy well-done has lasting power. If anything, most movie viewers appreciate the improvised scenes which were all one-takes. The unwitting participants were not going to go to seconds for this fact-finding journalist. Baron Cohen has a way of pushing people to the limit. Viewers may end up walking out of the theater wincing in discomfort but full of great funny episodes they can recount to anybody who asks. Is the movie a documentary? is it straight comedy? It is a fictional character who knows exactly what he is doing engaging with real-life characters who are clueless. Borat's fact-finding mission was to travel to the US to make his countryment a documentary about what it takes to succeed in this global economy. Based on the recent release revenue of the movie, it is a success.
