Covering racism, prejudice and discrimination by using a foreign language will not fly with VigilandoMedia.

Germany's world cup may be over, but soccer continues to be a part of life all over the world. Soccer fans or hooligans' behaviors will have to be changed. Zinedine Zidane butt-headed the Italian defender who allegedly spoke ill about his mother and sister. Repulsive behaviors will be highlighted in VigilandoMedia InterActive Broadcast e-Releases. Since then, the two players have been fined by FIFA and ordered to do community service. Sports Meets such as Soccer games, Volleyball and basketball matches, Ping Pong encounters and waterpolo etc can be the scenes of the best human comedy and tragedy. Sports Drama usually make the headlines and sell newspapers and magazines. The NFL, NHL, and NBA present season-filled sports drama that most fans enjoy. Sports misbehaviors by players as well as enthusiasts are not only a bastion of American sports. The same way that doping in track & field and cyclism is not only a U.S. phenomenon.

Race relations can get better if all the members of the society know how their actions impact others. Sports commentators and reports have a responsibility to report on the actions of the games, but they do not have any right to denigrate and make degrading comments on individual players who may have misbehaved in the heat of the moments. They can report their observations, but they must keep their own race or continent-put down comments to themselves. Fernando Fiore from Republica Deportiva is a good reporter and anchor. But some Univision sports commentators, speaking in Spanish, take the liberty of making comments that ABC, CBS, NBC and some Cable Network will never make. It appears that those individuals have not heard about the gains of the Civil Rights movement in the US. These Univision commentators may not be the only ones. Once in a while, some larger-than-life American or foreign athletes make degrading racial comments which they promptly recognize to be mistakes, human errors. Then, their agents rush to the airwaves to apologize, fearing the backlash from the adoring fans and the rest of the public. No one lives in a vacuum. All of us must be accountable for our behaviors and actions. The same goes for Univision, Telefutura, GalaVision or any Venezuelan TV broadcasting company which have owners or shareholders. One or two cowboy commentators can not continue to make unbecoming comments in Spanish in an effort to masquerade their own issues with good race relations in this country. After all, Hispanic fans do not appreciate them. While they may not like the antics, theatricals of Terrell Owens, they like and appreciate his superior skills. Most common sense Hispanic watchers and football fans will refrain from using the N-word when referring to him. How come it is OK for a commentator to talk in an evil way about a superstar Camerounian soccer player wearing the jersey of America? If it is OK to put Africans or Blacks down in Mexico, it is not legal or even wise to put them down en el Norte. Univision broadcasts to Hispanics residing in the US. We are protected by the laws of this country. Univision must abide by the same laws and regulations even when its reporters use Spanish. Racism does not taste good on most Hispanics' palate. We believe in harmony among the various racial, religious and ethnic groups that form this great country of ours.
